Regeneration of dust extraction channels from a cement plant – durability despite extreme conditions

Extraction channels in cement plants operate daily under extreme conditions: intense hot cement dust, high temperatures, and continuous mechanical stress. It's no wonder their linings wear out and get damaged over time. Why do cement plant channels require regeneration?

The sewer repair process – from dismantling to reassembly

At NWP-TECH, we carried out a comprehensive refurbishment of the exhaust ducts supplied by the cement works. Here are the stages of the work:

Cutting out and welding in new sheets

The first step was removal of damaged hull fragments. We then carried out precision cutting of sheets, which have been welded into place at the points of wear. We used a welding method that ensures durability and a tight seal, and is resistant to high temperatures and dust.

Sanding of undamaged components

The sheets that did not require replacement were thoroughly cleaned and ground using flap discs. This ensures the entire unit is prepared for final painting, without the risk of corrosion spots forming.

Spray painting with specialist Tikkurila paint

Finally, the channels were coated with industrial paint from Tikkurila – a heat-resistant compound that cures when exposed to heat. This ensures that the components are resistant to further exposure to temperature and dust, and that the protective layer retains its properties over a long period of time.

 Fun fact: The heat-resistant paint used in this project increases the coating's hardness in direct proportion to the operating temperature – this is an excellent solution for the cement industry.

Thanks to our technology, the channels have been restored to the customer fully functional and secured for further operation.
